Captain America's effects on society
It wasn't long after his creation that the general public responded loudly to Captain America. He was received with both great applause, and with objection. Though he quickly gained fan clubs and became Marvel's best selling character, there were some who did not take kindly to what Captain America was and what he stood for. The creators received a lot of hate mail, even some that was highly threatening. However, it cannot be denied that hatred from those who opposed Captain's America was drowned out by the immense praise and applause for him and his values.
Captain America was, obviously, a patriotic character, created to be the embodiment of what America stood for. His adventures expressed the hope that many had for the world and for the war in the 1940's. His whole persona expressed many American ideals. America has long been a lover and supporter of the underdog. Captain America originated as just that. America also supports the belief that anyone can make it big. This is also something captain America did. Captain America is a bringer of justice, a protector of the weak, and a lover of liberty. It's no wonder that we still love Captain America.
