The CREATION AND origin of the joker
We all know the Joker as the primary enemy of Batman, even if he was not supposed to be from the beginning. He was actually supposed to die after his second encounter with Batman, but the writers decided to keep him around because they saw the potential that he could have. And good thing they did, because the terrifying maniac of the Joker has made him one of the most feared and well-known criminals in the comic world.
Before becoming the Joker, he was supposedly (supposedly because there are many back stories to the Joker) a criminal named Red Hood who ran away from Batman in a warehouse and ended up falling into a vat of chemicals, which turned his skin white, his hair green and his lips bright red. Because of this drastic change, Red Hood had a mental breakdown and became the deranged Joker.
This character was originally created by Jerry Robinson and modeled after a character in the movie, The Man Who Laughed. The Joker started out as a mass killer and unbalanced executioner of sorts, but over the years turned into a harmless, crazy criminal. Recently, he has returned back into the former Joker that he was in the beginning, committing violent acts and destroying the lives of many prominent characters in the Batman comics.
